ABSTRACT: Obesity is a complex disease involving an excessive amount of body fat. Obesity isn’t just a cosmetic concern. It is a medical problem that increases your risk of other diseases and health problems, such as heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure and certain cancers. This survey study was conducted among different medical and dental college students. The basic personal information and details about weight, height and dietary habits were collected on a predefined proforma. A total of 70 medical and dental students participated in the study. There were 45 males and 25 females. The mean age was 21.34±2.17 years. The mean BMI of all the students was 22.54±1.56 kg/m2. The mean BMI of male students was 23.89± 2.16 kg/m2 and mean BMI of female students was 20.12± 1.84 kg/m2.
